Birdsnest 1 Update

If a Blue Tit is cleaning herself more the eggs will soon (True or not ?)

What pre-laying behavior actually looks like in blue tits

Female blue tits (Cyanistes caeruleus) do show behavioral changes before laying eggs:

Increased time in the nest box Nest cup shaping and lining (often with feathers/hair) More resting/sitting in the nest Occasional preening (self-cleaning) About “more cleaning = eggs soon” Preening (cleaning feathers) is normal daily behavior in birds. It can increase slightly during nesting periods, but: It is not a scientifically established indicator that eggs are imminent. It varies per bird and situation (weather, parasites, stress, feather condition). What is a stronger indicator eggs are coming

These are more reliable signs:

Nest is fully built and neatly lined with soft material Female starts spending long, quiet periods sitting in the nest cup Male may feed the female more frequently Activity becomes more focused inside the box rather than building Timeline (typical, Western Europe) Blue tits usually lay eggs April–May Once the nest is finished, eggs often appear within a few days to ~1 week

Conclusion: More cleaning can happen around this time, but it’s not a dependable sign that eggs are about to appear. Focus on nest completion and sitting behavior instead.
